Industrial training institute Srinagar is running under the Administrative control Of Directorate of Skill Development Department Jammu & Kashmir, implementing Craftsmen Training scheme sponsored by Director General Employment & Training (DGE&T) New Delhi
Crafts man scheme was introduced by government of India in the year 1950 to ensure a steady flow of skilled workers in different trades for domestic industry to raise quantitatively & qualitatively the industrial production by systematic training, to reduce unemployment among youth by providing them employable training, to cultivate & nurture a technical /industrial attitude in the minds of the younger generation.
The scheme was transferred to the state of Jammu & Kashmir in the year 1958 & ITI Srinagar was established in the year 1962. District Srinagar is located in south of Kashmir which is summer capital of J&K UT. ITI Srinagar is located at about 2.5 Kms from main town of Srinagar towards north.
