Industrial training institute, Srinagar was established in December 1957 and started its first batch of trainees in July 1957. It is one of the developed tehsils of District.

The Institute under the guidance & support of National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT), DGET, Ministry of labor and Employment, GOI and State Council for Vocational Training (SCVT), Department of Technical Education, and Government of Jammu & Kashmir is rendering its services by imparting vocational training in job oriented courses including short term and part time courses.

The institution is under Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode and the Institute Management Committee (IMC) has envisioned ITI, Srinagar to become a center of excellence, with total commitment towards quality in Technical Education. Presently the Institute is running two National (NCVT) level courses—– Electrician, Stenography, and seven number State level (SCVT) courses- Software Applications(PMRP), Data Entry Operator(PMRP), Computer operator & Programming Assistant( COPA), Electronic Mechanic, Welder, Cutting & Sewing, AC/Refrigerator (CSS), AC/Refrigerator being newly introduced trade.

The institution has total intake capacity of about 250 trainees. The institute has taken up four new trades in the field of Mechanic computer hardware, sanitary hardware fitter, Desktop Publishing operator, Printing & Packing, besides taking the up-gradation of two trades Electrician & Stenography under PPP mode. Out of four new trades the Admissions to three trades viz, Mechanic Computer Hardware, Desktop publishing operator, Sanitary Hardware fitter has been started from the session July 2011-12.

  • To enable students to get information about various job opportunities and to acquire the necessary skills of facing the interviews.
  • To help the students in the match of choice of course with their ability, interest and aptitude.
